Bilingual Brains
Our Bilingual Brains program is dedicated entirely to multilingual education and learning another language. Regardless of where you are on your language journey our Bilingual Brains program offers courses designed to meet your needs. We offer classes for three types of English. All classes will encourage you to develop your reading, writing, listening and speaking proficiencies.
Everyday English is the informal English we use in our day to day and where many of us start on our language journeys. This is the English we need to carry on with our regular routines of speaking with friends and family, grocery shopping, visiting a doctor, making travel plans, communicating with your child’s teachers, and keeping yourself informed about what is happening in your community. This is a first step in your language journey. It is an opportunity for you to build your vocabulary, learn about grammar, practice English, build your fluency, improve your pronunciation and use English. After completing these courses, you will feel comfortable and confident using English everyday with the people around you.
Business English is the professional English we use at work or in a professional setting. This English is suitable for intermediate and advanced speakers who are working fulltime and need to improve their professional communication. The English used in these courses is formal. It is used with colleagues, coworkers, clients, and customers to communicate professionally. You will learn to express your business needs whether you are making a phone call, sending out an email, taking part in a meeting, networking, giving a presentation, or having small talk with a colleague. These courses are designed to build your professional vocabulary, teach you grammar used in the workplace, build your fluency, improve your pronunciation and practice English. After completing these courses, you will feel more comfortable and confident using professional English in the workplace.
Academic English is the English we use in an academic setting which is also the English we often end up using in professional settings. You may be in K-12, getting ready for college, in grad school or preparing for a language proficiency exam like the TOEFL test. For academics, you need a strong reading and writing foundation. You will need to know how to read and write for different purposes, identify the main idea, know how to do research, write essays or professional papers, use different vocabulary, and express yourself in different ways. Academic English is the formal English we need so we can learn about whatever we want and understand English regardless of how it is presented to us. After completing these courses, you will feel more comfortable and confident with your ability to use English in any setting and be a more independent learner.
